Residency Experience
Immersive Learning Intensives
If you would rather learn-by-doing, you aren’t alone. We understand and invite you to join us on-site in beautiful Mexico.
Our design-build residencies are rigorous, all-inclusive learning programs designed for those who seek a profound, hands-on connection to regenerative architecture.
Available in 1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-week packages, these intensives provide a seamless, supportive environment so you can focus entirely on the craft.
Your residency includes accommodations in a professional team villa (shared rooms with individual beds), meals, and daily shuttles to and from the project site.
We prioritize your well-being and safety, providing necessary protective gear and comprehensive safety training before work begins.
Courses will be capped at ~15 - 20 participants to ensure quality learning and professional construction.
Learn from the Region
The program is structured around a five-day work week, leaving your weekends free to explore the unparalleled beauty of Quintana Roo.
Whether you choose to dive into local cenotes, relax on the Caribbean beaches of Tulum, or hike the historic Maya ruins, you will find the perfect balance between professional advancement and regional inspiration.
Camaraderie & Collective Growth
Building with your own hands is deeply satisfying, but the experience becomes truly transformative when shared as a collective endeavor.
The on-site learning courses provide a rare opportunity to bridge the gap between abstract design and tangible construction.
Beyond the technical build, the experience is defined by camaraderie and collective growth. Expect intense workdays balanced by group dinners and professional networking within a rich learning environment.

We have BIG goals for the Macario Project. Here are just a few.
-

Build While Learning
Master the future of construction through direct mentorship. Our design-build courses offer personal attention from global experts in bio-based and low-carbon materials. By moving from theory to on-site implementation, you gain the practical, high-level skills needed to lead in the emerging landscape of restorative architecture.
-

Create a Case Study
The industry lacks the real-world precedents required for mass adoption. The Macario Project serves as a critical case study, utilizing a fully instrumented "Living Lab" to record construction phases and ongoing performance data. Your involvement helps provide the evidence needed to legitimize bio-based materials as premium, scalable standards.
-

Train Future Builders
We are cultivating a global bio-based brain trust. Through structured apprenticeships and scholarship programs, we employ a “train-the-trainer” model that elevates local tradespeople and international professionals alike. This ensures that the technical expertise developed here creates a lasting, self-sustaining ecosystem of skilled practitioners ready to build anywhere.
-

Support a Circular Economy
True sustainability requires looking for local value in what others discard. We design with the circular economy in mind, identifying regional agricultural waste streams that can be transformed into high-performance building products. This approach reduces environmental impact while providing new, thriving economic opportunities for local communities and manufacturers.
