The Macario Project

Building with Bio in Mexico

The Macario Project: Our Flagship Project

The Macario Project is the inaugural development from A Greener Space Builds, serving as the a proof of concept regenerative model.

Located in the heart of Quintana Roo, Mexico, this project distinguishes itself as a premier design-build residency program that bridges the gap between architectural theory and on-site expertise.

Designed to combat the habitat loss and destructive development that has recently changed the region, the Macario Project is a regenerative structure utilizing climate-resilient, bio-/mineral-based and low-carbon materials to create a high-end residential structure.

Far from a traditional construction site, this build functions as an immersive "Living Lab" led by a global team of regenerative professionals.

Design-build Residency Program

We offer all-inclusive residency packages for professionals and enthusiasts who prioritize "learning-by-doing."

Participants engage in 1- to 4-week immersive courses, working alongside professional instructors to master low-carbon building methodologies.

This "train-the-trainer" model is bolstered by a structured apprenticeship program for local residents, contributing to the local economy.

Upon completion, the Macario Project will transition into a permanent case study. It will host ongoing performance testing and data collection, providing the industry with much-needed evidence on the durability and efficiency of bio-based architecture.

Through Macario, we are not just building a residence; we are establishing a scalable, profitable blueprint for the future of the planet.

The Location: Macario Gómez & The Yucatán

The Macario Project is situated just outside Tulum in the village of Macario Gómez, a hidden gem in the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula.

This region is defined by its deep historical gravity and ecological significance, anchored by the ancient Maya port of Tulum.

As one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites, Tulum reached its zenith between the 13th and 15th centuries, standing on 12-meter cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

By building in Macario Gómez, we honor this legacy of enduring architecture while addressing the modern needs of the Quintana Roo jungle.

Our project serves as a bridge between the peninsula’s storied past and a regenerative future, nesting advanced bio-based innovation within a landscape that has inspired builders for millennia.
